where the bloody hell has this month gone?

between an impromptu trip to nottingham, nationals, a trip to france and then a rammed bank holiday weekend it's probably safe to say I haven't really sat down.

in fact it's been said i'm addicted to being busy - or wording to that affect, and I guess upon reflection that's not completely untrue.

it's fine though.

i'm not too tired anymore.

to be fair my obsession with 'doing' is 100% linked to being so ill last year I couldn't function. that is not something I ever want to re-live again.

Kayaking.

is probably going the best it ever has and is providing me with the greatest rewards to date.

another podium at our home race has kept it to a 33% success rate of all races entered. (11/30 if we're being precise).

well hello portage. we meet again.

i'm going to argue this is my favourite photo of me ever.

| 2019 | 08 | 19 | busy bees not climbing trees |

there are 133 days left of 2019.

it's not that i mucked up for the first few, but i didn't do them very well.

i'm not good at consistency.

and for that, I'm sorry.

I'm not sorry though, for changing my mind.

i hate that all tables are set for right handed people. the first thing i have to do anywhere is move the cutlery and the glasses.
or do you wanna watch me tip it all down my front?
probably.

this month has been amazing. truly.

i've learnt a lot.

mmm i don't look my freshest here, but i shouldn't do.

i'd just paddled 26km in a howling headwind (well half and half) and was soaking in the atmosphere.

| 2019 | 08 | 05 | what a mess |

There are some things you have to be there for. One of which was this sunset. I wasn't going to go for a float but I was convinced by an unlikely ally - who then brought snacks to the riverside.

After swimming in the thames.

The below picture is one that brings me so much joy.

I think of her like a little sister, she's been a rock when I needed her and recently - I think the tables have turned.

Through a terrible set of circumstances one of the most promising junior kayakers has ended up in a situation she definitely would not have picked.

She's fought against everything though with a tenacity I'm astounded by.

You might have noticed a bracelet I wear - it's actually a reminder that no matter how tough things get, you can't let it overwhelm you.

the rest of the weekend was cake, smiles and kayaking. Well no, not kayaking but watching it.

we saw batman's house, found a dinosaur and got more cake.

I really like cake.

I've also decided I'd like to draw more.

Kayaking is hard enough to capture in motion - so I haven't chosen the easiest of topics.

I'll work it out.

preserving moments in time.

aged 5 i had already made all the big decisions in life i felt I would ever face.

I was going to be a cat when I grew up and my favourite colour would always be sparkly pink.

and i kind of fancied a herd of animals.

a herd.

mistaken.
mistook.

hi.

sometimes you start conversations with me like this.

as is often the case, my birthday came and went and not a lot happened in between.

it was nice though.

to be fair the main protagonist in this story didn't have to be the gnome, but that's just how it ended up.

have you ever been to Asda? I'd recommend going. I've only ever had good experiences.

this one involved donuts, a car and a gnome.

I shan't spill all the details because where's the fun? you'll have to go and find out for yourself.

time taken to recover from adventures unnecessarily undertaken.

frisball championships 2019. you're looking at the eventual winner.

the game was tough and quite drawn out. points were neck and neck until the phone rang and the boss walked into the room.

winner was determined by the quickest back to a state of professionalism.

it's not that i like kayaking. it's just.

there's something pretty cool about it.
