/ fitness / another update

My closing statements in my last update were a tad off the mark it would appear. Where I claimed that Men's Health would be the end of it for the foreseeable future, what I meant to say was that I would be easily convinced to enter an even harder, more physically demanding and genuinely terrifying race.

I guess completing Men's Health Survival of the fittest really gave me the fitness bug. I'm not claiming to be the epitome of fit here, don't get me wrong, but I am enjoying the constant struggle to better myself.

So, on the 26th January I will be running the Tough Guy race, 10 miles of grueling obstacles, tears, and general pain.

Ross will be my sidekick once again, but I might need an entire team. Tough Guy claims to be the world's most demanding one day survival ordeal and with good reason. Up to one-third of competitors fail to finish (or so I have heard), and the 25 obstacles put you through all manner of torture (barbed wire, burns, dehydration, hypothermia, electric shocks and so on...).

I think I'm going to have to have a stern talk with myself during this race - this one definitely isn't for the faint hearted and truly, I'm terrified. The idea of crawling through tight spaces scares me. Swimming underwater scares me. Climbing over a 14m high cargo net scares me. The 40ft climb scares me.

Okay. Everything scares me.

If When I finish, I'm going to be a very different young lady to the one that crossed the start line.

love sophie
